Briar chaps

I'm looking for a pair of briar chaps for pheasant hunting, and was wondering if you guys could point me in the direction of come good brands. I have been looking on the internet at them and am overwhelmed with materials, and brands. I am not looking to spend an arm and a leg. Any help would be great!!!!

I really like Filson products. I know they run a little higher $ than others, but they will last a very very long time.

Do you have the single or double tin? And for a dummy like myself can you get by with the single tin?

RE: Briar chaps

I have both. When I guide on my game farm I wear the single tin and when I go on my South Dakota trips, I wear the double tin.
I would say in 90% of all the situations I get into I could easily wear the single tins. How often do you pheasant hunt and what type of brush/ briars do you march through?

I hunt pretty much every weekend, and I hit a lot of fence lines, tagalder swamps, and I grouse hunt a little in pretty thick stuff.

I guess I would opt to get the double tin then. I know they are more expensive but I have a Filson vest, jacket and the two pair of chaps and they never seem to wear out. As a matter of fact, my Columbia brush pants (a gift from someone) are on their last leg after only 3 years and I'm replacing them with either the Filson or Cabelas Stonewall bibs.
Filson is as tough as nails and I only recommed them to people who hunt as much as we do.

Hey thanks I'll probably get a pair. What part of the state are you from? And is it mostly pheasants your after?

I have been looking in to the double tin now and will probably order some online, but I can't find what the thigh sizes are for the husky or the regular. Do you know where I could find out whether I need husky or regular?

Without a doubt get the double tins. I spent the few extra bucks on my second pair and got the leather lining on the cuff. Really helped to stop the fraying at the bottom. Best money you can spen on chaps.
