Jessejmc1979,
I'm in the Plymouth, WI area. I run/guide ona private game farm in the Sheboygan/Fon du laccounty area. I do most of my serious pheasant hunting in South Dakota.

Good purchase.
You won't be dissapointed with the Filson chaps.

Well I tried them out and you were right they are great. We went grouse hunting for a while yesterday and mack flushed 4. No shots (woods is way too thick). But we had a good time. I did have two fawns just about run me down though. One ran right into my gun barrel and just about knock itself out, and the other hit me in the leg!!!! But the dog did what he was supposed to do just stand there and look at me like "what are they doing"!!!

I'm glad I could help with the chaps advice.Sounds like you had a good time. I miss grouse hunting up in the Nicolet, but I can't complain about the amount of time I get to hunt doves, pheasants, turkeys, deer with bow and muzzleloader. Not to mention run my labs. I just wish the fall season was longer.

Filson chaps are the best. I have the single tin cloth ones. The only complaint i have is they are not very cool in hot weather... they tend to hold in heat between the chaps and jeans.I have the tin cloth game vest and it da chisl ma nizle..........

Ouch. I'm really sorry to hear that. Don't push it to hard coming back Letting things heal properly is better for the long term.

I actually bow hunted yesterday and mid-day ran the dogs to get them prepared for SD in 4 weeks for the opener. I think my dove season may be over as I get preped for SD and then the deer rut starts to kick in when I get back. In bad weather I go after some woodies or geese. I really start guiding bird huntsin December and end in early April.

It's nice to hear someone is getting out! My doctor told me I could ride horse next weekend so I'm hoping a little grouse the next weekend. Have you been seeing any deer? I don't bow hunt anymore. I still rifle hunt deer but pretty much just concentrate on birds all fall. So do you mostly guide in south dakota?

I have scouted a few nice bucks on the property. Who knows where they'll be at the end of October through November.

I do run my dogs out in SD along with a couple other dog handlers, but we go with a group of about 13+ guys. The leader of this group has been going for 51 years to his good friends in SD place. I do more shooting out there in a day then I do for the rest of the year hunting in Wisconsin. I love SD !!!

RE: Briar chaps

I am taking my first trip to sd this fall. My dad has went the last two years, and from what he's said I've been missing out. Hopefully it will be as good of a year as the last couple out there. I am most excited to get my dog on that many birds!! I'm just going to have a hard time taking it easy for the six weeks the doctors are telling me to.

You will have a great time !!! The birds are plentiful, the people are wonderful and the memories are forever. Maybe I should write bumper stickers for SD?
Seriously, you do a lot of walking out there. Make sure you are healed completely before you march those long fields.
Is blocking at a the end of a field an option once in awhile?
