Longest Pheasant tailfeather length?
Just curious to hear about anyones longest tailfeather lengths...I have had one over 23 inches in 2 years....23.25 inches...what about you guys?
( I plucked the two longest tail feathers on the bird and measured from very bottom point(quill?) then wait up and measured the tip of the feather)

RE: Longest Pheasant tailfeather length?
I've got all of my tailfeathers and the longest is only 21 in. I'm on a quest for the longest ones but I won't pass up the small ones lol. I've shot several old birds with very short tail feathers.

I have a pen with pheasants and the average tail length still on the birds is currently 21 inches still in the birds and all are younger then 1 year old.I will try to keep a couple for breeding to release the youngin the springand they should be carrying longer tails by then, I think.

Yeah, game farm birds have extraordinary tail feathers. I'm sure some of the ones we shot at one of those places were over 2 feet. I've shot wild birds that were like 2 1/2 years or older and they had rather short tailfeathers.
