Man, I had a blast this weekend. Me and my 2.5 yr. old fr. brit went out to Summit Lake preserve in Akron, IN on Saturday. He had some great points for not being out in a while. Shooter was awful though, even forgot where his safety was. We nabbed a couple quail however.
Stayed that night in Warsaw, IN and drove up this morning (sunday) to Backwoods Preserve in Bremen, IN. Had just an awesome time here, dog had 4 great points and got 3 chuckar and 1 pheasant. He accidentally flushed one chuckar today, and flushed a rooster on saturday. Did not shoot either, and hopefully Ican continue to get him good field experience and keep going out, though its rough on the pocket book.
Man it dont get any better than a good point and a shot bird. Nothing better in my book.
Both of the guys at the preserves, Jim Ryan, and Lee Fritz were both standup guys. Would go back to either any day of the week.

Hey, Jared
Sounds like you had a great time.
Could you PM me some contact info on those two places? I spend about half my weekends up around the Warsaw area and trips to KS to hunt pheasants are few and far between.
Thanx

I got them both from http://www.gamebirdhunts.com/us-hunting/Indiana.asp
Summit lake in Akron was more grassland...more hilly.
Backwoods was corn and something else yall grow out here (shrug)...flat with water ditches. (Easier shots!)
Later!
