Saturday went out for about two hours. Couple of guys dropped out on us so it was just two of us and our dogs. In two hours we had three rabbits and plenty of shots. We were both using single shots, he .410, me 20 gauge and this probably contributed to some of the misses. Quit after 2 hours because I was planning on hunting Sunday as well.
Sunday got out around 8:30, more guys this time and different dogs went with. Results: by 1:30 had eight rabbits between the four of us and had at least that many slip through or hole up. I've got too many rabbits in my freezer. Now I'm going to start using a bow, hopefully that takes care of this problem!
No lie, my dog is on fire this year! She is 1 1/2 years old and is consistently blowing the other dogs away! Please note that these conditions were far from ideal as it was 35 degrees, windy, no snow and the ground was dry as a bone, but it didn't seem to matter, she is flat out good! She's forced me to go from hunting with a 12 gauge pump, to a .22 with open sights, to a single shot 20 gauge and now I'm going to get a quiver full of judos! I'll be hunting with a wrist rocket by the end of the season at this pace!
