Pheasant Guzzlers

RE: Pheasant Guzzlers
Interesting that you asked that. I have built two guzzlers here in Nevada (or with a group anyway). They are built all the time here because of the lack of surface water available to animals. Animals of all sorts will use them. Do a search on water guzzlers, as I posted some pics last year some time. I will also post some pics that I took 2 months ago of the ones we did last year. Pretty neat. But you really need a lot of land to do it on, and a lot of hands and equipment to do it right, as well as the right terrain in order for it to work correctly. Essentially what happens, is you have these 50X100 foot tarps that are in a berm that is built up. A pipe is put into the bottom of the birm (it sits on a slope), to catch the water, and then channel it to a tank below it where the water is stored. It sounds fairly simple, but there is a lot of work involved to do it. Plus you have to put up cattle proof fences that also allow the game animals to get in and water. If not, the cattle will destroy the tanks in no time flat.
