Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Iowa Turkeys

What is everybody seeing in Iowa right now?? I went out last Sunday and heard many, many, many birds gobbling and actually got caught too close on a total of 5 mature Toms and their hens all within 40 yards. I had to lay flat on my belly and wait them out until they were out of sight. I did no calling of course and all the Toms were in full strut following hens. Gobbling cut down after the birds hit the ground. I had one of the Toms sneek up on me and got within 5-6 yards (did not spook him). Can't wait until this weekend, I am taking my nephew out for the youth hunt. Mine starts on Monday the 11th.

I hunt in NE Iowa near Monona. Hunted up there for years. I actually had to find a new spot since the ground that I used to hunt was sold last fall. I ended up leasing the neighbors land for youth, 1st and 4th season. First time I have ever had to pay to hunt ground, but it is worth it to me.

I have seen a lot of bird strutting up here in north-central Iowa but I havent been down to southern iowa yet where i am going to hunt them. I am going 2nd and 4th seasons and my dad has a bow tag. It's gonna be a lot of fun. We got 3 birds between us last year and a looking to duplicate that this year. There are a ton of birds where I hunt. I cant wait!!
