I laid one over a couple years back at 52 yds with my mossberg 835 ulti-mag using 3.5 inch #4's, and it did the job. That was a misjudgment in yardage, as the bird was out in a a disced corn field and I didn't have a range finder, and it wasn't a yardage that I would normally shoot, but I am thankful that the bird went down and I didn't wound one. I don't recommend shooting that far, but sometimes you misjudge, and I didn't need any hevi-shot! It is just a personal preference IMO.
