Ran accross this guy In turkey Section Yesterday At sporting good store, Started talking turkey & if i needed differant choke to shoot hevi- shot, He said only an Idiot would go turkey hunting not using hevi-shot ??????? Idiot ??? I laced into him As he tried to tell me What he shoots with Benelli etc etc etc & told Him to his face, Buddy I shoot a mossberg Ultra mad Using Winchester supreme turkey loads 3" #5 shot, at 40 yards.... & counted I said counted After i dropped my tom Last year 12 to the head neck area & over 6 to the chest....He couldnt believe it, Needless to say it takes a good turkey gun & Not the Highest priced shot To drop a turkey & common sence......

Man, i use Hevi-shot but have killed a bunch with lead and too talk like that sounds like someone hunts more turkeys from his livingroom then the woods. Hevi-shot works but so does lead! It`s more personal preference then anything. Kind of like traditional bowhunting vs modern, both kill animals. If it works for you than thats what counts.

right on brother,i have a benelli and a mossberg turkey gun,but mostly use a 24" full choke new england with $5.95 wal-mart shells, and don't have a problem killing him at 40yds or less

Heavy shot flew all over the place in my Benelli and even my 11-87....

Why fix what ain't broke.....sides the hunt is to get Mr. Tom within less than 20 yards and not those long distance potentialy to cripple and never find shots.

Does your slate get smooth outside in humidity and not sound right?

Nothing ticks me off more than someone trying to pitch something and claiming everything else is garbage!

Turkey guns, loads, chokes have come a long ways and they continue to get better. All guns shoot a great pattern as long as you spend the time (sometime the money too, for different shells or tubes) to work a pattern. Can't see myself preaching that one kind of tube and turkey load is only one someone should have while out turkey hunting. Way to go;)

I have an 835 with a Hastings choke tube. It shoots Winchester 3.5 inch, #4's (2.25 oz). It will shoot farther than 40 yards.
