Getting the call to stay in your mouth
#14
Good luck with the mouth call. Like a couple of the guys said be careful when you trim them because if you take too much off they are not any good. Also wash them out and disinfect from time to time. Going from your mouth into the packet and back a bunch of times and the bacteria starts to grow. Some people get a sore throat after using one over the course of a few weeks. I usually use some listerine but I use it sparingly and be careful you don't ruin the membrain.

Use your tongue to hold it in place. When you are hunting and finished calling move it to the side of your mouth between your cheek and gums. Like if you were chewing tobacco. Works for me. Its always available and I am not searching for my call when a bird shows up. Just my 2 cents

Mk-m-gobl, I went to that last year, I think we have a mutual friend, Mike. If so me and my boys met you at Morse's last year before youth weekend, for a time you were going to help us call for my boys, but plans changed.
I can make the sounds, just not consistent now. I think its a position/fit thing now, just to chicken to trim it. My pallet is very thing and high.
Question, when I put my tongque up to hold the call in my pallete, where should my tonque be hitting the call. I think I position it to far back and my tonque in on the reeds.

OK I remember now! I was calling for a kid from ME with the video crew. Never did get anything for them last year. Trying to call turkeys while the young kid is playing video gameboy just doesn't work. Hope to see you again this year
I believe it's on the April 17th.
