Whats the best wood to make turkey box calls ?

I am thinking ceder.

So what do you think ?

WAAAAAAYY too many combinations to answer that! I don't think that there is a single best wood. I haven't been making boxes long, but, through experimenting, I've confirmed what I've heard for years. Different woods make different sounds. Heck, You can even make 2 calls ecactly alike, out of the same woods and demensions, down to the last detail and they will sound different. Make a couple of lids for the same box and see which you like better. The thing is, you never know just what will push an old tom's buttons.

I think Neil Cost once said the best wood to make a lid from is cedar. I personally love the sound of a popular box with a cherry lid.
