What advice do you give to a newbie like me? I never hunted them before. I hear that the turkeys up here in Northern NH are not call shy since they havent been really exposed to much pressure. What do I need to buy? Any help is appreciated.

Swampy , what ever you do don't get tied up in a GrandSlam
because the last time you did here there was problems

Just the basic calls Bud, Get a crow Call for a locator , and maybe a box Call and learn the laugage of the bird. A Decoy or two Hen and Jake and other then that read up some of the threads, i'm sure you will pickup and other will help you out when you need it ...BT

Turkeys respond to crow calling... did not know that... thanks. I know about the early morning owl call... but next time I am hiking in the woods off-season I will bring my crow caller.

My advice would be not to get started with turkey hunting. You risk being shackled to an obsession. Not a pretty sight around here this time of year with all these sick individuals desperate for a fix.
See the thread entitled "spring fever" for example.
