If you get snow, as much of the country is getting right now, I would check out the creek you mentioned. Alot of times, during times of snow, a turk will hang out in a creek bottom and feed along low water creeks because the snow won't stick there as well. Even ditches and runoff areas will have the same effect. Anywhere the snow doesn't stick too well, is a good spot most of the time because it will concentrate the turkeys in one smaller area. If they are using this type of area, the sign should be evident.
