RE: Shooting flying turkeys, right or wrong?
I know a lot of guys that will shoot any way any time.
me,it has always been my code never shoot a flying bird, unless it has already been shot and wounded.
like the rest,I think there would be a loy of lost wounded birds.
always make sure of a good clean head shoot!!!!
I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest
remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.

RE: Shooting flying turkeys, right or wrong?
Well, at first thought I said it'd be ok. On second thought and after reading the responses, I'm changing my mind.
Things to consider:
1] How has my wing shooting been at ducks? Not very well this past season and a turkey is lots harder to kill than a duck.
2] Shot pattern. With the super tight patterns the aftermarket choke tubes produce, it'd almost be like trying to hit him with a rifle. Not a good option.
Thanks, guys, for making me think about it more. I'll agree; not unless he's already been wounded.

no enjoyment in shootin at turkeys that are flying. but, if
i called one within killin range ready to pull the trigger,
and he spooked and flew, well-----

I don't think you should try to hit a flying bird. The chance is too great that you might loose him. Also if you did hit him,it would be a shame to fill the exposed breast area with a full load from a tight shooting turkey gun. I do agree though if you have already hit him or knocked him down all bets are off.

I AGREE WITH ALL OF THE OTHER GUY'S ON THIS . NOW LIKE CAMOHUNTER SAID IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SHOT THE BIRD AND IT WAS FLOPPING AND YOU RAN TO GET IT AND IT TOOK FLIGHT THEN I WOULD SHOT IT AGAIN THAN TOO SEE IT FLY OFF AND GO TO WASTE.
