Default Why....

many times ive been out if the woods calling calling gobblers for people, we sit under a nice tree or behind a big log with ferns or a backdrop behind us an the turkey gets 30 yards or closer and sees ya or notices something not right. not all the time tho. one day i was behind house went out just to play with them in the evening, called the gobbled came right into 40 yards, neer moved they saw something and flipped there wings and slowly left. next day i had got an outhouse blind i figure hey ill set it up out there for fun then see what i can get in. i called they came right in.
they went 5 yards from blind fanning it was hilarious. they finally roosted waited till dark and got outa there. then next week it was fall season, went out and sat saw some and got busted sitting there. so i went to truck got out blind set it up then turkeys came right next to it without even caring. never got shy or anything.
My Q Is.
how come in camo with great surroundings, backdrop, everything and dont move and are smaller they sometimes notice you?
But in a blind they just come right up to it and thats same pattern and bigger?
I dont really understand this.
Thanks Cory

Cory , Movement and your eyes. Although most hunters don't beieve they don't move , most do if sit back and ever watch another hunter thats close by. I used to shoot video and it was always suprising how much a hunter moved when they did not believe they did.

Also your eyes, A turkey can focus on the whites of your eye's. I've had the birds Bust just from moving my eyes from one bird to another. Take a Black object and put to snow white dots on it and see how the white dots stand out...BT

I agree Adrian.

The other thing is we gotta breath! As one gets excited and your heart rate goes up so does your breathing and this slight movement is one you can not stop.

I have noticed turkey behavior as I sat stone still but you could see they got nervous because of eye blinking. Another body function hard to control.

In a blind all this slight movement goes away. However in one of those blinds you need to watch how many windows you have open because you can silloutte your self because of the light coming through a window. It is better to keep it as dark as possible.

One way to check is take a friend and put them in the blind. Then walk around outside the blind to find the areas you should darken. A few of the blinds I see on the market the windows are far to big. Yes you can see better but it also makes it easier for the turkey to spot you or spot movement.
