Both are great guns .I would go with the 870 ,there are more accuries and toys for it .If you want to shoot the 3.5 shells ,the 870 express supermag is a great gun .

The 835 is a great turkey gun right out of the box. But the 870 is a better all round gun and you can add accessories over the years. You'd be happier in the long run with an 870.
That said, I love my 835 tho, but it is a dedicated turkey gun. I don't shoot anything else with it. It doesn't point well for wing shooting and the ported barrel would blow my duck hunting buddy's ear drums out! I have an 870 for all purpose use and they are better all round guns.
Happy Birthday!

Thank You.
Im Leaning Towards The 870 Now A Buddy Is Gonna Give Me His Slug Barrel Never Used So Then I Can Use It For Deer If I Decied To.

I own a 835 and a 870, each gun is different in it's own way, the 870 is lighter, but the 835 throws a much better pattern. One thing I did find out the hard way is that the 870 is much more tempermentale when exposed to the elements. She started to rust on me the second day I got her. I take care of my guns to, just couldn't believe it. With the right setup both are killing machines, but for me it's the 835 because of it's devestating pattern.
