I've located 15 big flocks of hen's no tom's. I can keep track of the hen's. Now when the time comes will the hen's go to the tom's or tom's to the hen's?
Wife and I success in the Mich. drawing so we can try to get one.
Doc. said I could go so we are going. I want the best chance I can get. So please help me.

Welcome , The season is still early, Next month you'll see the birds starting to break up and the Toms will start to Gobble to attract the Hens. Hang in and read the Board , you have a lot of questions answered here I'm sure. Theres lots of very exspirenced Turkey Hunters that visit us...BT

Welcome,I hope this won't confuse you. When the birds actually mate the hen goes to the tom.But the hens will pick the nesting sights and the toms will not be too far away.So in a sense the tom goes to the hen then the hen goes to the tom.confused yet? What I'm sayin is if you know where the hens are come openin mornin you will also find gobblers in the area.Good Luck

if you find the hens, the gobblers want be far.
I have always heard that the hens go to the gobbler, and when you try to call the gobbler to you,you are going aginst nature.I have hunted gobblers for about 35 years, and all this time,I see the hens fly down and the gobbler flys down and comes to the feeding hens.where ever the hens go the gobbler is right behind them.
I may be wrong about this but it seems the way it has been in all my time in the woods.
I have never understood why everyone says it is the other way.
men always chase the women, but the women always catch the men.
I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest
remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.

<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>You all answered my ? very well. Now all I have to do is keep track of the flock and watch and learn. We were successful on the drawing. With this mild winter the birds are fat ( big).
OK here is one for you. In an area that has good cover (protection), rivers, streams , ponds or lakes( and crop fields, acorns) with in 1 mile of where they've been so far how big of an area may they travel? I'm tring to figure out where the tom's might be.
Thank you all
