Alas my second season of chasing gobblers has come to an end. But not without rewards, even thou i didnt fire a shot, it was rewarding indeed. The time spent in the woods with my family, in particular my wife, has become priceless to me. I hunted last year for the first time and was convinced my wife would love it, even thou she was skeptical. I only wish i could have taken a picture of the look on her face when she heard her first gobbler, priceless. As for me i made it a point to spend as much time learning as anything else. Not to let the pressure of gettin a bird ruin the hunt, as the pressures of life tend to ruin some of my days. Ive learned how to sit still for literally hours listeneing to nothing but the sounds of the woods.
If nothing else ive learned something of myself, and ive learned that im a turkey addict, through and through. Ive learned that the one piece of brush that you think wont be in the way, will be. That the wind can make a gobbler sound like hes right in front of you, when hes really right behind you
. Ive also learned that getting a bird isnt everything, but it sure would be nice
. Anyway now i have a lot of information to mull over till next spring. With duck and goose seasons not so very far away i believe i have a better understanding of who i am and that just because you aint heard a gobble dont mean there aint a turkey on your doorstep
. Good luck to all that are still huntin, congrats to those who have scored a bird or two and to those of you like me, theres always next year

MTNGUY! I remember so fondly the first time I ever heard a big gobbler coming in from behind me ,it sent deep shiver's up my spine and a half hour later I scored and was on my way home with bird in tow. It definetly was a great experience. Now I hunt them with a bow and believe me that's definetly a whole new experience .

hang in there buddy your time will come.....took me 4 years to bag a turkey......now in 1.5 i killed 3 turkeys......one during every season.....spring fall then spring.....funny thing is the first time i hunted alone i came home with a longbeard....dads like ahhh he got lucky......then i was pheasant hunting alone in the fall and kileld my fall hen.....then this spring i went out alone again......and once again i came home with a longbeard.......now dad and i agree......he trained me well.....no matter what when i was with him i could never take the shot......i had more birds infront of me during them 4 years then most guys do in their lifes....just wanted that picture perfect shot like on tv........well after that i decided if i had a shot that i thought i could make i was taking it........and both my spring birds i had pretty much perfect shots.....no brush or anything.....i still love hunting with ole dad and wouldnt pass up a chance to hunt with him......im still learning and hes the best teacher there is for me......we have fun and i love to spend time with him......theres alot more to turkey hunting then the kill.......it sure is nice to have a nice fan beard and spurs for the wall......but theres something about the spring woods......good luck turkey hunting.......youll get one sooner or later...........
