At first I always thought the Easterns looked a little drab compared to the other species. That was until I saw one my buddy took a couple years back, the dark coppers in that bird just made me start drooling
The Merriams are very beautiful, but I'm growing into such a Turkey lover that even The ocellated turkey" almost" looks pretty
Notice I said almost.

Yes Sir, out west these birds tend to get pretty high, this one was probably around 3500 elv. His older brother which we really wanted headed up, this guy was pretty low down on the ridge
My Dad, pictured in another post, kept asking why we were hiking up in Elk country for a "bird". He was on his first ever hunt and couldn't beleive the terrain we were chasing them in.
