Well the nightmare of getting to the woods, setup and waiting out a Gobble, happened today. With a new Turkey hunter that has all the thoughts of a successfull hunt , sure can be disappointed. The woods were lighted up and not One gobble.
I soon said its time to head back towards the truck and maybe try another location. As we walked along , I could not here a Gobble at all for miles. We could see well for miles as we happened to be at a higher point in the area.
As we walked along a field we looked at tracks and new there had been birds in this area at one time.
Then A gobble rang out! in the woods across the field from where we stood , so we moved towards the edge for cover.
We made a call and a Gobble back before I had it all out.
We setup and work started , but not for long a few cutts and the birds ,yes birds more then one was on the way. I soffened up the calling and before long a Gobbler was walking down the field edge right too us.
At 20 yards he stopped and Angelo was set and pointed in the right direction. BOOM! Down was his first Wild Turkey. Something one will not ever forget. We jumped up and ran out and 5 more Gobblers ran off...
