Big Al I see you are just down the road from me - if your soil is the typical red clay you might have the same problem we did. The clay gets so hard that the turkeys cant dig up the nuts. You could plow it up so they get at it but then it gets eaten fast by everything. Was more trouble than it was worth for us.

when you plowed up your plot did you, did you disc the entire plot or just a little at a time? I encourage folks to do it in parts instead of the entire plot. it sometimes helps it stay around longer. like you say it is very tasty to all animals...thats why the turkeys like it so good
