Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Leaving Tomorrow

For two days of hunting with my son a buddie of his and the kids father. I know some of you are against youth hunts, but were off.

We'll be camping in an 11,000 acre WMA. Taking some venison filets and roasts I saved for a special occasion. Hopefully filming a couple 13 yr.old getting their first birds. My son hunted last year. This will be his buddies first Turkey hunt.

This will be our first time hunting this land, but we've done alot of scouting and have found some very promising area's. We down loaded some maps from the topo zone and started exploring this place about a month ago.

If they didn't have the "Youth hunt" would I still have hunted Turkey with my son? Sure I would. What it did was give us even more of a reason to do something special.

We as older hunters need to do anything to expose the younger generation to the outdoor sports we so dearly love. Anything!
Youth hunts done correctly helps our cause and helps keep our hunting traditions alive.

Good luck - have a safe one!

Good luck. Nothing wrong with a youth hunt IMO. My son took advantage of them when he was younger and now he has such a love for hunting. Like the old saying, better to hunt WITH your kids then FOR them. I always know where he is. With me in the woods with a bow or gun. Enjoy yourself. It should be a very special hunt.
