I actually have 2 questions I wasa lookinf for some insight on.
First we went out this past weekend during youth weekend and had around 25 Jakes fly down out into a field in front of us and another hunter on the other side of the field. The other boy shot 3 times and missed and then my son sot once and got one. My question is will this really spook the Jakes and any longbeards in the area or will they continue to roost in their normal spots? They have not been hunted again till next Monday and then regular season opens.
Second question I am sure a few more of the Jakes will get shot but if there is 15-20 left at end of season will they all stay right in that area or do they leave kind of like young bucks do to try and find their own area before next spring.
Would appreciate any info from all of the experiance on this sight.

First off,Congrats to your son.
As for the jakes movin. They won't go far.As they get older they'll move around and try to establish their own territories but some will stay close by.A turkey won't just roost anywhere. He's only gonna roost in an area that has everythin he wants(food, protection from weather, hens, struttin areas etc.)The area you were huntin must have all of these. So if you'rer askin if that would be a good spot next year I'd say yeah.

I agree with Javja.......one tip I learned after all these years......if the bird is down and down good....stay put......don't run right out there......and watch and learn!
and ya just might be able to come back the next day and hunt the same area all over again.

When you consider that, on average, only 10% of turkeys make it to their next year, I think there will be plenty of room for those (then) 2-year-old birds!
Congrats on the bird!
