The Remington Duplex kick like a mule, but they seem to kick the turkey even more!

Funny you should ask. I was just out shooting my 835 yesterday. Now for all the years I have owned this gun I always shot it from a sitting position on the ground. Just like when I am hunting. Yesterday I decided to shoot it from a bench. WOW! there is like 3 times the felt recoil shooting 3 1/2's from the bench. Must be cause I lean into it more. Rattled my fillings lose, had the scope hit me in the eye bone once, I couldn't believe the recoil. Seriously, I never thought shooting 3 1/2's was a big deal untill yesterday. I suffered through 5 rounds yesterday, and plan to shot it six more times yet before season, to compleat some testing. If you have a hard time with heavy recoil I recomend shooting from a sitting on the ground position, makes a lot of difference. Winchester 3 1/2's are without a doubt the worst recoil I have ever experianced.

It had to be the Rem High Brass 3.5 mag Hevi-shot (combined with leaning into it at a rest to pattern).

For turkeys, I'm not sure if the Federal 3.5" 2.25 oz loads or the Winchester 3.5" 2 oz Supreme loads kick worse, but they both sure hurt. I remember several times having a sore cheek bone after patterning.

Perhaps the worst, however, is from a single shot, barrel sawed off, stock sawed off, 3 foot long 20 gauge. It was my first gun, my dad found it at a used gun shop. It was cut WAY down. Anyway, used that sucker for deer with slugs, and to this day, that sucker HURTS! Its so short that the hammer will come back and bust you in the nose if your not REAL careful. I found that out the hard way [:@]

20 gauge 2 3/4" slug. Way more powerful then 3" Magnum shot from a 12 gauge IMO.

I think Strut&rut hit on the head.... with the gun at least. Seems anything you shove in any NEF kicks like a *#^%#*
