Fed 3 1/2" 2 1/4 oz. 5's By far the worst for me.
I started shooting Rem Hevi-Shot 3 1/2" 6's, really I think the recoil of the 3 1/2" Hevi-Shot is not even as bad as most 3" magnum loads.

I have tried most of the 3.5" shells, and to tell the truth, I'm in such a daze after I pull the trigger I really cant tell wich one kickes hardest. I do know they all will put a whoopin on ya at the pattering board. A few years ago I took my father-in-law with me to shoot my 835 and he didnt have the gun all the way against his sholder, I cant even describe the color of black, blue, green, and yellow his shoulder turned.

Trying to make the ultimate turkey gun. I took a old Steven single shot 3 inch 12 gauge that I have I shortened the barrel to 21 inches and had it treaded for Hastings chokes. The gun is great to carry weights a little over 5 pounds and throws a nice pattern with any 3 inch turkey load but, it will bring tears to any grown mans eyes when he pulls the trigger. I keep it around turkey camp just to see the look on the faces when it’s shot.

I went out and patterned my buddies gun yesterday afternoon. He was shooting a Rem 870, shooting Winchester Supreme 2.5oz 3.5 shells. He fired a couple of rounds and he hated every second of it. I then handed him one of my hevi-shot reloads 3" 1 5/8 oz #6. He shot it and the recoil was definately noticeable compared to the 3.5 shell. It also patterned much better on the turkey target too. I can reload HS for the .79 cents a shell which is less than he paid for the Winchester 3.5. If you shoot HS, reload it save you a bunch of money.
