Default Owl call help

I have a Primos owl call. It says to say Who Cooks For You All. When I say that I have to go real slow so all of the hoots aren't bunched up. Are you supposed to go slow or bunch up all of the calls?

you are supposed to break the words up and cup your hands over the end to cause a lower noted owl hoot.

Barred owls make all kind of creepy noises. With some of the sounds they make if you very heard one at night and didn’t know what it was it could scare the crap out of you. But most of the time they make a sound that sounds like saying (who cooks for you, who cooks for you all). The speed or tempo is about the same as if you were to saying the words to someone.

Just a side note : the YOU ALL part is more like Ya'll. The last two words are put together to make a drawn out sound.

We call the Barred Owl an "eight hooter" down here. The notes are in 2 groups of four. Who-Cooks-For-You ... Who-Cooks-For-Yooouaaall. Cup your hands aroung the sound emitting end of the call and form a sound chamber -- sort of like when you whistle through your fists. Then blow on the call hard!

Guys , You have done a fine job guiding this fello on this call. Now to find a Call that works the best for it is another thing.

Any one out there have a Palmers Wooden Owl Hoot (older Type) for sale? I'm after one ! ...BT

Adrian,

Are you referring to the wooden Palmer's Hoot Tube that H.S. markets? I just got one of them and it makes fantastic owl sounds.

I noticed that Dale Palmer (designer of the Palmer's hoot tube) and his son Jeremy both placed in the National owling contest.

I had a camp owl and I couldn't make it last over a season....I don't know why.....I went and bought a hoot tube made by Southland Game calls and it's KILLER!! Loud, distinct, you can do the "laugh"....I really like it.....It does take a little wind to blow, but I've got plenty....LOL
