Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

How many of you use decoy(s) ? It seems like alot of states season start a month or two before mine. Are my turkeys here in New Hampshire at the end of prime gobblin or mateing time by opening day of May 3rd here?

will the decoys help me out if the turkeys are close to the end of their struting / Mateing time.

I would only use them on private land where I have permission to hunt. There is public land with turkeys thats managed pretty good by fish and game but the decoys seem to be a dangous thing to do there knowing there could be other hunters there. also no orange "posts or flags" are required here.

The only problem that one may have with decoys is after birds have became keen to them. Most times this will happen in the half way through the hunting season. One thing to keep in mind when using decoys is that not at all times will they work, it depends on the mood of the bird that you intend to hunt...BT

I think Basspro Shops sells a 3 position hen and you can also pick up an intruder jake to either have it in the breeding position with the hen or by itself.

Do you think the New Hampshire season starts too late? we are a little more north then most of you, maybe thats is why the state sets the season in may..??

We use decoys on public land down here. Not as many hunters as up North I guess. I've seen other hunters in the parking space but never out in the WMA.

I hunt in extreme southern Florida and our season starts in 4 days on March 6th.

I use decoys and they have always worked for me. But you do have to be careful if a lot of people use decoys where you hunt, especially late season, because many gobblers do get smart. I hunt in central florida and the season starts March 20 here.
