You will need to try different shot sizes and manufactures, to see where your gun will patteren. Two shotguns, same model and manudacture will not always pattern the same using the same ammo. You will just have to try some and find out which your shotgun likes.

4, 5, and 6s. 6's for a lot of shot---but not quite as much down range knock down power. I shoot high velocity 4's in my 835 using a .685 Hastings choke. Patterns well with lots of knock down power at the longer end of the "envelope." 6's would be great 30 yards and under---but as was mentioned you need to pattern a couple of size shot.

If you're wanting a good place to start, then try some Winchester Supreme High Velocity turkey loads in shot size #5. They may not be "the" load in your particular gun but there's a good chance they will shoot well. Turkey loads in #5 shot are probably the most widely used.

Found some winchester #5. I get about 10 pellets in the head and neck but all of those 10 are at 40 yards and are in the kill zone. I will only shoot 20-30 yards though.
