I'm aware that the NWTF has done, and still does alot of good for turkeys and other game, however, I'm not a member, due in part mostly to the politics involved, some beliefs they have......I have been wanting to enter a calling contest around here, but every place that puts on such an event, you have to be a member.....I also think they were a key player in eliminating the turkey season during rifle deer season here in Va....not, that I'd want to shoot a turkey with a rifle, but my dad always turkey hunted(with a shotgun) during that time, he don't deer hunt, so I felt like that time in the woods with him has sorta been taken away from me.....that's why I'm not a member....

Getting rid of the turkey season during the deer season was the best thing that ever happened to the Virginia flock. Deer hunters were shooting turkeys with 7mm mags and only collecting feathers. There is a season before deer season and a season after for turkyes. Plenty of time to get a turkey.

As a turkey hunter, I can't see how I can't belong to the NWTF and the NRA
Some groups have put a sour taste in my mouth lately (DU for example) but in the end I will continue to support them because they preserve wildlife and habitat. That is the ultimate goal! Forget the politics and the BS....do it for the critters.

TScott....you missed my point entirely.....I see what your saying about the deer hunters though.....as far as obligations, the only thing that I feel like I'm obligated to do is obey all game laws, hunt legal, and let the smaller one grow a year....

That's a big osceola. We just have easterns here. They are awesome though. BB
