RE: Which calls....?
Pa.There are so many calls out there it's hard to pick just a few.I'd suggest goin to an outdoor show(Harrisburg is a good one) and listen too all the diffrent calls. When you hear one you like try to run it for yourself. If it sounds good buy it.

86,Jim gives you some of the most practical advice available.Alot of time, effort, and money go into finding calls we have confidence in and even then we all still look for that one magical call ole longbeard just cant resist. One thing you'll find though is when you take to the turkey woods it doesn't matter how many calls you take with you, you'll always will reach for the one your most comfortable with.I happen to like mouth calls made by H.S.Needless to say there proven for me individually but with that said IMHO i'm a firm believer in a call is only as good as the individual operating it and it doesn't so much matter what name is on it!

Want something relatively cheap....go to Wal-Mart and pick up a H.S. Strut Black Magic aluminum call.....then buy the H.S. Strut rosewood striker to go along with it. The rosewood striker really makes it sing! You'll have a call that will get the job done for not much more than 20 bucks.
Want something really nice that works great and looks even better.....get a Harrison Game Calls slate over glass. The one I have is made of osage orange. You can see them here http://www.harrisongamecalls.homestead.com/index.html. I know these 2 calls work from my experiences with them and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either one.

while i have many different calls, the three i use EVERY time i go hunting are: primos true double, lynch model #102,and the primos power crystal.as already mentioned, any of the calls on the market will call a turkey, you just have to pick the ones you like best or that you have the most success with.

Went to Cabela's today and picked up some calls. It's a pack of of Knight & Hale diaphragm calls. I never used a these types of calls before, so I was suprised when I actually made some sounds, doesn't sound too much like a turkey, but its a start I'm gonna drive my family crazy 'practicing' with these calls. I also picked up a coyote call with a video, that thing is loud!

I am another fan of the H.S. mouth calls. They have worked really well for especially the Viper and the Ghost Lite. As far as a slate type call goes, I like the black Widow from H.S. Strutt and a knight and hale slate. Good luck.

I like quaker boy mouth calls the best, old boss hen is my personal favorite.
I have box calls, slate calls, push buttons, wingbone and they all work sometimes. Anything from knight&hale, quaker boy, and lohman are good.
Having a collection of calls with you is always a good idea if you want to up
your chances at getting turkeys to respond.
