ALLRIGHT,Another good debate here.I'm goin to be in the minority here and lets keep it civil and have fun with this.OK, A wild turkey is not that hard to kill.Be honest if you hit the head and neck you only have to penetrate thin skin and fairly thin bone.Do we agree on that?I don't know one person on this board who would stand at 40yds and take a load of 7 1/2 shot. WHY? If it won't hurt ya. Guys on the serious side.Of the turkeys I've killed over the years I'd say at least 12 of them have been shot with 7 1/2 shot they flopped no more than ones I shot with 6's. As for range I shoot most of my birds under 20yds but that's only cause I like to watch the show as long as possible. As for ethics the guys on this board who have known me for awhile will tell you nobody respects the wild turkey more than I do.I put alot of time into testin diffrent shells before I would use them.

Javlja I agree with ya, its just that a whole bunch of guys have'nt been qiute as fortunate to hunt turks as long as yourself. And I certainly appreciate your attitude in understanding this in not getting bent out of shape over a comment or two.Range is really what were talking about here relative to having enough downrange energy to sufficiently kill a gobbler.Certainly Javlja isn't telling all to make a habit of shootin 7.5's but knowing your effective limit is whats most important.I for one really disagree with where our market is heading with scopes, choke constrictions, and turkey loads. They continue and sell there products on being able to hold tighter patterns at longer distances.I agree with Jim here enjoy the show of being able to fool a longbeard into easy gun range instead of how far your shotgun can reach out and kill one.I've said it before and i'll say it again,if they continue to improve on shotshell loads, and chokes, than our scatter guns might as well be rifles. And I know an awful lot of turkey hunters think thats unethical!

10 point,This is one of the beauties about turkey huntin. There is more than one way to skin a cat(bird)There are so many diffrent, styles, beliefs and opinion's.One thing I've learned over the years is just cause I don't agree with someone that doesn't make them wrong and visa versa. The bottom line is go out there and have fun

The way i look at it is if you shoot 7.5 and keep all your shots say 30 yards and under thats fine but at 30 yards i can get plenty of #5's and #6's in the kill zone and if one walks in to 40 yards and will not come any closer i can still feel good about the shot if i miss. But if i miss with 7.5 shot at 35 or 40 yards then i am going to be wondering if that bird flew away and died under a tree some were...
