Dude I feel your pain!!! I killed a easy bird on opening day... If it wasn't for that gift I would of been eating tag soup big time!!! Thank god for easy gobblers :s4: |
I've been fortunate to make the best of the few chances I have had. I tagged out in Vermont and New Hampshire with longbeards. Very few jakes, I have only seen 4 and two where during youth weekend. Makes me wonder what next year will look like. I think the winter gave the birds a tough time. My second VT bird had a 9 inch beard and 1 inch spurs but only weighed 15.9 lbs. Very strange.

My year has been much slower than years past... limited spots is the main reason. lost a couple of spots and the spots I do have just don't seem to be holding birds this season.
I did whiff and miss opening day on a spooked tom.. ouch... just whiffed... no excuses. Managed to shoot a nice one that weekend, but just haven't had any other luck. |
