This was actually a good year for me, but I have had some years like yours. Sorry it was a tough year for you

Got my highest scoring bird this year. My longest beard. It was the only decent bird I saw worthy of shooting. But, on the other hand, I only got one bird for the second year in a row. I hope it isn't the start of a trend.

So far I'm having the worst year also. I had my chance and not sure if I will get any more. LOL Still fun just being out there.

I have gotten my first bird and still looking for my second one. The birds have been very quite here this year and giving us a tough hunt..

I'm still working at this year for a couple weeks yet. So far, I'd say the birds were as talkative as I've ever heard them.

westMDbowhunter 05-15-2014 11:45 AM

2 weeks left for me I think.
Only had the chance to get out a handful of times
Seeing nothing but deer
My Winchester is getting mad at me..

Two more weeks for me over here in MI and the birds are as quiet as I've ever seen them with this lousy weather that started way back in November. I'm beginning to think the numbers are way down with very few birds even being seen this year and definitely not much gobbling, as I don't think they know what time of year it is. Our 10 day forecast is for highs way below normal and the same for lows. It looks like I have about a 3 day window of decent weather starting over the weekend to get er done or eat tag soup, which doesn't happen very often to me.

Dude I feel your pain!!! I killed a easy bird on opening day... If it wasn't for that gift I would of been eating tag soup big time!!!

Thank god for easy gobblers :s4:

I've been fortunate to make the best of the few chances I have had. I tagged out in Vermont and New Hampshire with longbeards. Very few jakes, I have only seen 4 and two where during youth weekend. Makes me wonder what next year will look like. I think the winter gave the birds a tough time. My second VT bird had a 9 inch beard and 1 inch spurs but only weighed 15.9 lbs. Very strange.

My year has been much slower than years past... limited spots is the main reason. lost a couple of spots and the spots I do have just don't seem to be holding birds this season.
I did whiff and miss opening day on a spooked tom.. ouch... just whiffed... no excuses.
Managed to shoot a nice one that weekend, but just haven't had any other luck.
