So, before I join the NWTF, I would like to know what have you found to be the Ups and down of it?

The ups...they don' t berate you with direct mail like the NRA, they don' t leave anyone out (disabled, women, and kids), the produce some good magazines, and overall just a good organization.

The downs...when you join they initially don' t move a lightning speed to get your stuff to you. But if that' s the worst, not too bad.

The comeback of the wild turkey in the United States can only be attributed to the NWTF and its volunteers. It is one of the great success stories in wildlife management.

If you hunt wild turkeys, I would strongly encourage you to support this fine organization. And don' t stop there, find a local chapter, join them, and help them out! They need your help.

Ups... They do a great job of helping our turkeys and I like being part of that, Awesome Magazine, good fellowship with people who have the same interest as I do, Helping others get involved, i.e., JAKES, WITO, Wheelin' Sportsmen, your money is going to protect a sport we love.

Downs... Like any large group there are ups and downs. There are people with a beef against the NWTF also, I' m just not one of them.

Hi guys, New here and have to speak up when it comes to my favorite hunting activity. I joined the NWTF and love it. It supports the turkey population as TScott and Kitsap have stated. It took them a few weeks to get me my membership documents, But when I called to ask they were very friendly and sent past magazines that they didnt have to send. There is always a chapter close by. and if not you could start your own chapter. But this proves to be a lot of work. The thing I like alot is the chapter banquets. What a blast, and they make money for your turkeys.

Not many downs in my opinion, I know several turkey hunters that really bashes the NWTF cause they work so close with most Dept. Of Conservations in every state. The way I see it thats what they are about, perserving the wild turkey, and if it takes catching a few poachers that claim to be turkey hunters then good deal.

All in all I think the NWTF is one of the best wildlife Org. there is, and the banquets are great.

MWTF is a good organization, doing good work in areas where the wild turkey could use some help. Local chapters work on local issues and the national group has had the foresight to diversify the membership and include groups that get little attention from other national hunting organizations. That being said, you should find it an easier nation-wide group to deal with than some of the others that are continually working up ways to lighten your wallet. I know a growing segment of the membership is getting pretty tired of Rob Keck running things, but that is up to the membership to change if a change is warranted.

I am able to turkey hunt soley because of the fine work of the NWTF. I joined after taking my first turkey and continue to be a member as a means of saying thank you for allowing me to enjoy this sport. I didn' t join for any benefits---but I like what I get from them.

There conservation efforts have created hunting opportunties for many out west here.And as time passes by and those opportunties continue to become less and less it would be wise to support such an organization who does try an make an effort towards not only establishing the reintroduction of the wild turkey in certain habitable areas but new areas also.This in turn gives the perspective hunter an opportunity eventually to hunt !!

The National Wild Turkey Foundation is without a doubt the premier conservation organization in the world. In most states they are single handedly responsible for the comeback of the wild turkey. I joined 6 years ago and two years ago was voted in as a chapter president in Northern Illinois. The only bad part about going to banquets is we only gave away 15 firearms last year. We wanted to give away 16. Go to a NWTF banquet you won' t regret it. If you hunt wild turkey or enjoy the beauty of the best game bird in North America, than do your part and join!

I have tried to get info from the NTF for over a year---I handed the local Rep---the state rep--and a NYF member my address to contact me on some food plots and info on joining------they have never tried to contact me.

I tried to contact numerous people by phone and only get an answering machine--it was when I waanted to know how to get a bird measured for their books---I did it with Michigan Comerative Bucks ---he was---36 plus inches ---their loss--
