Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default wait and see

If I have a gobbler answer within a few hundred yards I sit there at least an hour. I've had some of my closet encounters with a gobbler that went silent only to have him show up "unannouced" just several yards away. Not all birds will come gobbling the whole way in and this is particulary true with birds on public land that may been called to before. Big gobblers will go silent sometimes in an effort to see if the hen will come to him after he gobbles and in alot of cases when she don't show he will sneak in for a look at the spot from where she last called. I have shot over thirty turkeys and spent alot of time observing their habits and sitting for an hour seems to be the magic number for me, but remember turkeys are individuals and may not do what you think under certain situations.
