Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default stand hunting

Has anyone thought of hunting turkey out of a treestand? Just interested in opinions for either spring or fall turkey? Reason I am asking is because I saw a ton of turkeys out of my early whitetail bow season stand.

Thanks

In my experiences I wouldnt hunt turkeys out of a tree stand. For one they seem to look up and bust me out everytime Im hunting deer in the fall. In spring Im always on the ground hunting out of a blind.

I dunno about spring, but in the fall turkeys seem to be less wary in my opinion. I could have taken many a turkey from a treestand or from the ground (not in a blind) during the fall. I even waved at some turkeys when I was on the ground last fall and they didn't react. Just my experience.

I general buy a turkey tag for the fall for early season archery in Kansas i have shot several turkeys from a tree stand while deer hunting. I have never specifically gone for turkey out of a tree stand but its fun to shoot while deer hunting

Default Turkey Stand Hunting. Now that brings a laugh

For years I got away from turkey hunting, as the state I was in only had spring turkey hunting, and I was a confirmed spring trout fisherman.

For years I'd sit in a tree stand in the fall and watch the turkeys approach my strand. Sometimes they were right under the stand and once I counted 36 turkeys within 100 yards of my deer stand, one afternoon.

I always figured they knew that fall turkey season was out of season. They must have been attracted to the big quiet blaze orange blob sitting in the tree stand, who didn't shoot at turkeys.

I dont have a stand in my turkey area so I hunt the ground, but the young man I hunt with uses a tree stand and hunts turkey with a bow. He has been very successful.

My grandpa used to hunt in treestand during autumn and just preferred the grounds every spring, I just can't get his logic of it though.
