I am thinking about hunting this year from a pop-up ground box blind. What is unclear to me is how do you call from inside one of those things? It seems like the calls would be muffled. Is it good enough to just hold the call up against the window? It seems like a tom might be able to spot the movement of the the call if I hung my hands out the window to sound the call.

Pop up blinds seem a little cumbersome to me. I like to be able to get up and move if I have too and a popup blind is too much to fold up quitly and re-setup. I wouldn't think you have to worry about the sound of the call from inside it though.
I use a small blind I got from wally world that stakes into the ground. It's really just a piece of camo leafy material with stakes on it and it's big enough for 2 people to sit behind. It'll roll right up and fit into a backpack or vest. much nicer that that huge popup I tried before.

Thanks for the advice. The one thing that made me interested in hunting from a pop-up blind is that I may consider bow hunting from it. I think that it may conceal the draw of the bow if I am hidden from within the blind. I think that I know what you mean by the stake up blind but the ones that I have seen only have camo sides that rise about 18 inches. I want to be concealed but I am not sure that this would hide me, especially if I decide to draw a bow from behind one. Do they make these blinds with higher sides?

Calling from the inside of the blind is no different that sitting against a tree.
You do not need to put the call outside the blind - not at all. No reason too the turkeys can still hear you just fine. Call as you would in any other situation.
