Turkeys and hills
Hello everyone, I have been turkey hunting for 3 seasons now but the only place I have ever hunted is Kansas where it is mostly open and mostly flat. I plan on doing some public land hunting here in Eastern Oklahoma and I was wondering if it is easier to call gobblers up hill to you or down hill to you? Thanks everyone in advance for any advice or tips.

When calling gobblers it is best to be higher or at the same elevation as a gobbler, try to be in an area they frequent.
That said I called to a far off gobbler on my elevation then when I knew he was coming I ran down to the creek where I had my decoys. My decoys where about 20 ft lower than the gobbler, he flew off the 20 ft. embankment over the small creek and strutted right into my decoys, so anything can happen.

I have had much more luck calling them up a hill. I try to get at a more elevated location. As RockyMtnGobblers said, anything can happen, but I have had much better success calling from a higher location than the bird.
