When calling gobblers it is best to be higher or at the same elevation as a gobbler, try to be in an area they frequent.

That said I called to a far off gobbler on my elevation then when I knew he was coming I ran down to the creek where I had my decoys. My decoys where about 20 ft lower than the gobbler, he flew off the 20 ft. embankment over the small creek and strutted right into my decoys, so anything can happen.
