Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Well JW, where ya at?

Default Well JW, where ya at?

Found where the Merriams are roosting on my farm:

On another note JW, hope your dogs are in shape when you decided to make a run up here to Montana. Ran into an old friend that has a farm up in northeast Montana. Wheat fields, coulees, brush bottoms along the creek drainages.....lots of pheasants, sharptails, and hungarian partridge. Then talked to another old friend last night that has a farm in the same area, with the same sort of scenario....all total about 6000 acres of wheat, CRP, and BIRDS!!! Both said to go up and hunt whenever I want to as often as I want to.....

Whiz - you are killing me!

Dogs are in far better shape than I. I spend all summer exercising and using pen raised to train hunting scenerios.

And we can trade Whiz ~ Grouse hunting had been real good and only to get better as well as tumberdoodles.

So keep an eye on them ~ sure want a Merriam.

I know you can't make it up this year most likely, but do make plans for next fall for sure....if it's upland birds...although turkey hunting is great in the fall, just different tactics.

If you want to come up in the spring for turkey, just come on up. I've got a guy that I used to work with who's family has a large ranch up in the timber east of here with lots of turkeys!

Whiz - you are correct can not make this fall at all ~ really want to as you would be in for a great treat hunting behind my dogs! Highly trained pointing bird finding machines and great retrievers too for both upland and waterfowl.

And I need to get there as I am not getting any younger! Will plan for next Fall.

Now this Spring ~ Would love to plan a spring hunt with you. I know we would have a great time - that hay bale set-up is ideal for the type of hunting I do as I can not run and gun like I once did.

So plan on Spring ~ and I will send an e-mail.
