Check out this gobbler' s legs!!

This is another photo from that same gobbler, notice that he was already starting the molting process on his legs!! Date bird was shot was May 30th. I' ve seen this before on a past gobbler and he was molting out on his neck area. Seems that they must start molting towards the end of the month here in NY. I was wondering if anyone else seen this before?

LOL!! That' s right BT!! I keep forgetting that you still have snow up there during that time of year!! Your birds need their feathers just to keep warm!![8D]

maytom, I have seen this before, and it has also been in the same location,

Paul I' ve seen it quite a bit actually and I do believe your right,but I also credit alot of the feather loss due to breeding activity as well!Between defending there rights to the ladies and the breeding process itself they loose an awful lot of weight and feathers!!
