Default Spring Turkey Hunt 2010 Internet Diary...

How about everyone post there Spring Turkey hunt experience here each day here no matter where you are hunting, so we can share it.

Started late 6:00AM today and by the time we were on the field the birds were already out.Anyway set out on another field using a new blind. This new to me as I never owned a blind before.7:00 AM I got an answer about 70 yards to our left. A couple more calls a nice Tom goes out about 80 yards in the open. This is where I made the mistake of calling one more time. As soon as I called the Tom stared at the blind for a long time and sulked away to the bush. I forgot about the blind being in a totally new spot. Anyway this is all I've got.

Default 2nd day of the Hunt double header

I was calling for a friend of mine and 2 Jakes and a Tom came out.
I told him to make sure to shoot the last bird as it was a Tom.
I turned around to get my video ready and Bang...He shot the 2nd bird, a Jake. When everything got all sorted out after the shot he realized he got the Tom also. He never even noticed it was lined up with the 2nd bird. So I had to use my tag on this one also. It is his first bird ever so I guess he was nervous.

Default Close Call Friday May 14th 2010

A friend of mine wanted me to call for him this afternoon.
We were set up on a northeast corner of a field with the wind blowing from the west.I started calling from 2:00PM to 4:00PM without any success. The wind changed coming from the North and that did it for us. This Tom just appeared like a Black Phantom gliding in a carpet of green.Unfortunately my friend missed and just hit some tail feathers. The tom jumped and landed about 4 ft. and stood there staring in our direction for a long time. Then he heard something and started to walk away. I was excited also that I forgot to follow through with the video and just watched him walk away.

Default May 18th 2010 Photos Jakes+Tom

Today my video battery was run down so I couldn't use the video and decided to use the camera instead.

I was able to call these Jakes early morning.

Then the Tom about 10:00AM. If you look closely at the 2nd picture you'll see the head of the hen also.

Tomorrow my friend hopes to shoot one so we'll see if i can video it also.
ENJOY,
louie

Well this gobbler I've been chasing, he's roosting now on some other ridge...Heard him this AM from it, gobbling his head off. So I am going to go to the landowner's house and ask for permission to go up in there to turkey hunt since he seems to be hanging there....Thought I heard another bird sound off elsewhere as well.

Is it legal for you to use your tag on the other bird?
