..I was the hunting channel and the host of the show was hunting turkey, and he was letting out some type of loud squal from a mouth call, and the gobblers would gobble every time he would do this,he uses this as a locater and i see why,but im not sure what it was,it was sort of a high pitch squal long and drawed out squal,i had never herd a hen do this? he said he learn it as a boy, from the chickens in the yard when a hen chicken would make this sound ever roster would crow,im mean them gobblers were going nuts when he did this, anybody here know anything about this???????

Totoe,I don't know if we're talkin about the same thing. But I've gotten gobblers to fire up when nothin else would work by puttin a long drawn out almost whistlin sound right before breakin into a series of yelps.I always refered to it as a whine.

I didn't see the show but it sounds like you're describing a hawk scream. <img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

I saw the show also. It was not a hawk call. He was using the same diaghram he was calling with. It was just a drawn out single note. I have seen him use it before on other shows. It sounds out of place, like he is trying to call in a laying hen. But it does work for him. I'll certainly give it a shot this spring.

I didn't see that show yet,but it sounds like the screaming peacock.
that works also,it sounds like a chicken caught by a hawk.
