Default Making the switch to hevi-shot.

A while back i posted my patterns with a kicks gobblin thunder .655 out of my 870 super mag and it was borderline in my opinion, i sold a jellyhead not too long ago because i never wanted to shoot hevishot but now but then bought another one and im gonna give it a try considering ive heard nothin but good things from the hevi loads and plus they holds NWTF records. I have the .665 jellyhead and im looking for what size shot im going to need because im new to hevishot, i need all the help i can get , just trying to save a little money and trying to get my gun to shoot its best since seasons just around the corner.

I have said this many times. The Rem. Wingmaster HD's pattern great with my 870 and Jellyhead choke. I have always shot the Rem. Hevi shot magnums, but they don't make them anymore. The only shell that has patterned better than them has been the HD's. BTW, I shoot 3 1/2'' 6 shot with the HD's. I shoot 5 shot with the mags. For some reason, the Jellyhead and 870 doesn't like the Hevi 13's too well.

Get either the straight 6's in heavy shot or the new Heavy 13 mag blend 5x6x7 duplex loads. There is no need to shoot straight 4's or 5's in the denser than lead stuff. The 6's or the duplex load will outpattern the bigger shot sizes and even the small shot in the heavy 13 stuff will kill just as far as your shotgun will hold a good pattern.

I shoot the same 665 jelly head with a 870 supermag turkey sps with #6 hevi 13 with great results. At 40 yards I'm getting 170 pellets in a 8 inch circle.

Now buy a good choke, you putting together a BMW with goodyear tires

Just the other day a guy came to one of my seminars with patterns he shot from a .665 jellyhead and then I showed him my 20 gauge. I doubled his pattern count with a 20 gauge and at a farther distance, he shot at 30 and mine was 40

#6, #7, or EM's new Magnum Blend. No reason to shoot anything smaller than #6s in my opinion with heavier than lead shot.

You will like em...

And I read an earlier post on 870 and Jellyhead not liking the EM loads..Thats all in the rig...We have shot 7's and 6's through he Jellyheads in .660 and .665 and bested the Indian Creek .665 rem as well as PG .670..swap to another gun the roles reverse..I have seen great patterns from The JH EM combo...when using a 23" barrel the .660 shot the best and 26" + the .665 JH was the better. JMO

Good Luck on your setup..We are shooting some 3" 2oz and 3.5" 2-1/4oz 7's through the .660 and .665 JH's and 870's this weekend..along with some Nitro 7's and triplex and Rhino .685, .720 and PG .690through some 10's..I will get some pics up..
