I do the motorboat... but not with a diaphragm.

For purrs though I try to roll my tongue. I'm not 100% satisfied with the sound it makes, but it has brought in a few turkeys so I suppose it works.

Untill you learn purring with a mouth call. Like few people have said scratching the leaves works well, push botton call works well. Try having you legg that you shoot off of blocking your calling hand if you don't have gun mount push botton call or to scratch leaves....

You can also purr with one hand using slate call doing this method. By laying slate on the ground using your leg to block movement and using one hand to purr with. Take litte practice but works well. Good luck with mouth call.
