Default calls

Like most of us I have way to many calls! I only use 4 calls every hunt but I may bring more.

1 h.s. strut owl call since 1990
2 h.s. glass call since 1990 given to me used
3 h.s. double d mouth call 1990
4 mad high frequency call early 90's

Why change a good thing!

for general locating i use hooter calls and my good ol lohman 104 crow call. to actualy bring in the bird i find myself always falling back to my single side box calls and basic slate surfaced pot calls. most of the birds ive called in were on pot calls and the longest range call ive done was with a box call.

my top 3 go to call list would be
1. illusion flat stroke box call
2. k&h slate surface pot call w/ hickory striker, forgot model #
3. hs 360 glass surface pot call w/ burnt tip cherry wood striker

I always have 2 box calls on me and at least 2 slate type calls with about 4 or 5 different strikers. I usually have a stash of 5-8 diaphram calls with me as well. Plus my locator calls.

A couple of box calls, a couple of pot call's and I make custom mouth calls so I always have a pile of them along with a few "prototype's" in the mix and that's just the turkey sounding stuff. I also carry two or three different kinds of locator calls. I call too much, move too much, make too much noise but damn I have fun. lol

I usually carry 7--2 mouth, 3 pot, and 2 box. And, 4 or 5 strikers for the pot calls.
