Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

I just get about 100 yards and setup, wait till the day starts to come alive.if he gobbles,I wait till the other birds cherp then I will give him a soft tree yelp and wait and see. if he answers me,then I wait to see if he get excited then do the same with another soft tree yelp, then I want yelp again till flydown time, then yelp once lightly.if he answers,I hush to let him dictate the game and go from there.I call when he gobbles and wait to let him come if not then I call again.if he goes the other way I step up the pace and if he keep going.I get around him and change my call and calling.
it' s hard to go through the whole thing, you have to read the bird and work each one in a different way.

just the way I do it.

i had a bird fly behind me this year and kept on going,i assume with hens.i was unfamiliar with the land and could not catch up with him.set up on him two days later in the same tree,i was waiting in a feild with one hen decoy on the timber edge.talked to a old timer the day before and advised me to call softly and sparingly.was carefull to be quiet, got my decoy ready, detached my seat from the velcro etc before i moved in.two soft tree yelps,he landed and gobbled.two soft purrs and clucks, put down my call and waited.scratched the leaves a couple times in between[i feel that was key]. he came into my decoy, and the rest is history.24 lb,s.i feel you position yourself properly, call just to let him know you are there, and hope he does not fly down to a waiting harem.good luck.

You could get a buddy to help you out. Set him up where you were set up the day before, and have him do the calling. Then you go where the bird flew down to and the direction he went, keeping quiet. The old ambush trick just might get him!!

If your luck runs like mine does he will fly down to the buddy doing the calling . that could be the other side of the coin . Good Luck
