Check out the remington spr453 3 1/2 inch auto. I bought mine in camo with 26inch barrle for 479.00 just saw the same one at dicks for 449.00. everthing i hear is that the gun is rock soild had mine since january no problems.

You're supposed to shoot them in the head/neck with a shotgun.If .22 LR rifles are legal any vital area shot will give a clean kill.

Well yea, in the end it would kill it, but I wouldn't use it for putting the animal out of pain if its not already dead after a shotgun shot.
They are hard shot, and I guess you would need to hit them in the neck or their head to be sure to kill them?

I'm no expert but I've been told by many that the longer barrels really benefit waterfowlers because of sight picture on the swing thru. If its just for turkey I don't think it will effect the pattern too much if you try a few loads a find the one that your gun likes.
As for above, a 22 will kill a turkey if shot is placed in a VITAL area, but it may not be too quick and they can run.
