I sure usemy GPSall the time, hunting, fishing, hiking, etc. (Garmin 76cx with US Topo & Bluechart)
I'll make one long track that has all roads, trails, edge of fields etc in the area I will be hunting to use as reference lines on the screen so I know where I’m at when in the field. With Google Map & your lap top you can make a full map of roads etc to use as reference lines so when hunting you know where you are in an area that you have never set foot on.
When scouting & hunting turkeys, when I find a likely spot I’ll make a blind & set a way point. Then I’ll make a track as I follow a deer trail out of the jungle. Then at O-dark:30 I can get in & set up.
Another trick I do to find birds is to project a point. When I hear birds gobbling I’ll get the angle of the gobbling & project a point at that angle about a ½ mile or so a way, then make a route from my spot to the projected point. Then as I work my way around to that area I have a line on the GPS that marks where birds were. Gets you in the ball park anyway. I also put these points in to Google Map & see/find the area I think their using. You can also find a good looking spot on Google Map & add a way point on your GPS then hike to that spot & see how it looks.
So any of you guy using your GPS on turkeys??????

I have a Garmin for my truck. It's great..
For hunting I use trail tacks and I always carry a compass..My hunting spot is 25 square miles...I don't leave my house without my compass...I mostly use a compass for turkey hunting..I was a point man in the military..so I know how to shoot an asthmus.
