I have been told that wild turkey is better eating than a butterball! What are some ways that you experienced hunters have prepared your birds to meet all types of eaters?

I have never prepared a wild turkey before so I might be talking out of my (fill the blank), but I recently won a turkey fryer kit at my banquet and I can' t wait to make some cajun fried turkey. I' m going to pat it down with some cajun seasonings, inject it with garlic butter and fry it until its golden brown. I want to serve it with some wild rice on the side and a favorite vegetable. Throw in some homemade biscuits that' s what I call a meal!

That sounds like a great way to eat a wild turkey! I have heard of others who have done it the same way and they say it' s the best meal they ever had. If I do bag a turkey this season, I may go out and buy the fryer your talking about.

I love doing mine in a deep fryer seasoned with cajun seasoning and marinade. Very good!

Here are 3 ways I cook my turkeys.

1- Deep Fry- just rub turkey down with a rub (mild-do not like hot spicy food)

2- BBQ- Take breasts out of the turkey, cut into 1" thick slices, maranate for 30 minutes in sause of your choice, bbq on med heat for about 5 minutes flipping once

3- Stir Fry- Cut turkey into small thin strips and add to veggies or your choice and stir fry

I love the wild turkey, IMO it is way better then store boughten birds.

I deep fry mine, you can' t beat it. Juicy and tender. If you try this beware, when you take the turkey out of the fryer it looks horrible, black and appears to be burnt to a crisp. Just open it up and enjoy. When the turkey is done cut up some potatoes and throw in the pot, great home made fries.

Slice the breast into 1/2" slices, pound it out to tenderize it, roll it in flour or whatever else suits you, and fry it in a skillet with a little bit of oil.......my mouth' s watering just talkin' about it!!
